DRAMATURGY

The Practice Room

written and directed by JuJu Jaworski, Feburary 2024

The Practice Room is a new play, and therefore requires new dramaturgy. Sorrentino is so honored to have been included in drafts of this work from its earliest iterations, from hosting living room table reads to watching the world of Hanover Academy explode on the stage, which it’s much better suited to. Primary dramaturgical considerations include character histories, dynamics, and inner world conflicts as well as more traditional research on British School Systems, orchestras, and the human experience of ambition. Full dramaturgical presentation available upon request only.

Dead Man’s Cell Phone

written by Sarah Ruhl and directed by JuJu Jaworski, April 2023

One of the great works of Sarah Ruhl, Sorrentino was beyond thrilled for the opportunity to work on this production. The text rich with poetry, post-humanism, and theories on connection left her with quite a bit of content to work through. Primary dramaturgical considerations include: the poetics of transformation, the human machine, and temporal spaces with more traditional research on the 2009 media landscape, Edward Hopper paintings, and Ruhl’s inclusion of Dickens and Donne in this work. Full dramaturgical presentation available upon request only.
